Learning a new language is a whole new experience in itself. With increased globalization, learning a new language opens up new opportunities, imparts independence and gives an edge over the others in this competitive world. However, learning a new language comes with its own challenges. To enable better understanding and quick knowledge acquisition, Newgen has embarked on a journey with the best educational publisher for creating detailed, engaging and easy-to-comprehend learning materials for both learners and teachers.

Newgen’s education team is proud to have partnered with one of the world’s leading education publishers on the three-year development of a major new French course for key stage 3 school learners.

Pitched at learners aged 11–14 (US grades 6–8), this large multicomponent course incorporates five richly designed student books with accompanying teacher guides, various digital resources, workbooks, assessment content and supporting audio.

Pulling together an expert team of in-house project and programme managers, editorial consultants and designers, the programme has been delivered on time and to much acclaim. Handling modern foreign-language (MFL) content is a core strength for Newgen’s UK-based project management team, so we were particularly excited to tackle this long-term project. The UK team was supported by an expert group of offshore graphic designers and artists, providing the perfect balance of onshore and offshore resourcing.

The team worked right from content creation and development, through all of the development stages, including native French-speaker checks, assessment testing and design. With digital development and audio script preparation, the project delivered content across various media with content and schedule dependencies at every stage.

The project made use of Newgen’s well-crafted project management methodology, including regular retrospectives, proactive risk management and a genuine commitment to continuous improvement.

Reflecting on the project, Newgen’s UK Managing Director Joseph Bottrill commented, ‘We are delighted to be able to support the development of this important resource for language learners and teachers. Learning a new language is a real joy, and we hope that these resources will be both commercially and educationally successful for a long time to come.’
